Many parts of East Surrey are in Conservation Areas and building an extension in one of these will require that you get planning permission for your conservatory or orangery. If you're not sure whether you live in a conservation area, your local council will be able to advise you. There are usually a few pages on a council website devoted to this and listing the areas covered. Alternatively, make a quick call to the duty officer at your local planning office and he or she will be able to tell you.

Additionally, the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) stretches across a large part of this area of Surrey to include the chalk slopes of the North Downs, from Farnham in the west to Oxted in the east and extending south to the deeply wooded Greens and Hills which rise in Haslemere in West Surrey. This treasured landscape of beautiful countryside is rich in wildlife, woodland and attractive market towns and villages. Planning permission for extensions including conservatories and orangeries in, or close to an AONB will need to obtained before building can start.

With our experience in designing conservatories for a variety of properties in many different areas, we can give you help in applying for permission so that your plans have the best chance of receiving approval.
